Dr. Alex Herzog

Regarding community involvement, Dr. Alex Herzog has done just that, he gets involved!  He and his family are always looking for ways to be involved and serve the community.  From his involvement with service organizations such as the Kiwanis, American Legion and local Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Herzog’s drive to improve lives is evident with successful projects such as the development of a campus food shelf, scholarship fundraising and his efforts to address Veterans in distress in the communities he has lived.  Being active in his community is not just something to do, to Alex it’s how you live life.  From volunteering to serving on nonprofit boards and also serving in leadership capacity on those boards.

Educational and Professional Background

A Foundation of Knowledge and Experience

With over 30 years of experience in volunteering in a nonprofit environment, Alex’s volunteering involvement includes, Scouts BSA as a Scoutmaster and District Chair, serving on Claremont School Board, Secretary of the Price Kiwanis, Chair of the Claremont Community Media Center public TV station board, and hosts a public TV show that interviews nonprofits and community members who are doing good things in the community called Along the River.

Dr. Herzog has been active in many professional organizations while working in Education. He has been involved with the statewide New Hampshire Career and Technical Administrators Association, the Utah NASPA organization and he served as President of the National Association for Campus Auxiliary Services West Region. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors for his work, including Advisor at Yavapai College, Alpha Delta Pi Professional of the Year 2001, the CEU Sun Center Outstanding Campus Partner Award of 2009, and the Civically Engaged Staff Member Award from the Utah Campus Compact, Sullivan County Partner of the year among many others

Dr. Herzog’s efforts in higher education are informed through his own education, with an A.A. from Adirondack Community College, a B.A. in Labor Relations from SUNY College at Potsdam (1991), an M.S. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Indiana State University (1995), and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2010) in Educational Leadership.  Whether presenting at national conferences, serving on conference hosting committees or serving on boards, Dr. Herzog has been deeply committed to giving back to the profession and to his community.

Alex brings to the table extensive experience in non profits as a volunteer in leadership positions and as paid staff member.  Guiding Good is an effort to help nonprofits seek greater success in their missions through coaching, training and consulting.

By focusing on sustainable growth and impactful community engagement, Alex aims to create a lasting legacy of positive transformation. His leadership is characterized by a deep commitment to social justice, inclusivity, and the belief that together, we can build a better future for all.

When not working, you might find Alex seeking new adventures such as snowshoeing, seeking a new farmer’s market or spending time with friends, camping or hacking away on a golf course… usually with his family in tow.
